Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro series won’t be launching anytime soon, but the rumor mill just can’t stop leaking new details. From what’s leaked so far, it seems the upcoming flagships will arrive with some decent upgrades over the previous-gen models. It’s not just the hardware; Apple seems to be experimenting with aesthetics, with a new red color. Adding to that, a source familiar with Apple’s supply chain has now revealed the color options that Apple is planning for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, and the upcoming foldable iPhone.
iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max may get four new colors, including ‘Dark Cherry’
The new piece of information comes from MacWorld. The report says that the signature new color for this year’s Pro models will be Dark Cherry, a deep wine-like red shade. Though previous reports talked about a “Dark Red” option, the hue will reportedly be closer to wine than a brighter red. The color will apparently be much more muted than last year’s bright Cosmic Orange. The color will apparently be unique enough to make the iPhone 18 Pro distinguishable.
The report adds that Apple may discontinue the current lineup of colors, including Cosmic Orange. Besides this, Apple has reportedly been experimenting with two other color options for this year’s Pro lineup. One of them is Light Blue, and the other is a dark shade of gray. The former would apparently resemble the current Mist Blue color of the base iPhone 17. The report also mentions the existence of a silver variant of the iPhone 18 Pro, similar to the current generation.

Reiterates previous design leaks
The report lists the Pantone codes that Apple is using internally. These include: Light Blue (Pantone 2121), Dark Cherry (Pantone 6076), Dark Gray (Pantone 426C), and Silver (Pantone 427C). That said, the four colors are still reportedly in development, and since the iPhone 18 Pro series hasn’t proceeded to the mass production stage, Apple still has time to change things. Apple usually doesn’t offer four colors for the Pro models. So, there is a chance one of these might get dropped before launch.
As for the design, the source has reportedly seen the CAD drawings, and these apparently support existing rumors. Especially, a smaller Dynamic Island, which should free up some space when Live Activities are not in use. Furthermore, the renders also reportedly showed a slightly reduced gap between the glass cutout on the back and the camera bump. However, the source was unable to confirm whether this is an old render or if Apple is going ahead with a design change.
A Weibo tipster, “Instant Digital”, previously reported that Apple would adopt a new manufacturing process to minimize the color difference between the glass and aluminium frame, so the change may be connected.
iPhone Ultra may get fewer options
The report also sheds light on the first foldable iPhone, which could debut as iPhone Ultra. It may arrive in fewer color options than the Pro models. It reportedly won’t come in bold or fun/vibrant colors. The source says that Apple has been working on a classic silver and white model as well as an Indigo option similar to the iPhone 17 Pro’s Deep Blue.
In terms of design, the source corroborates earlier leaks. The foldable will get dual rear cameras, a selfie camera on the outer display, and a second selfie camera in the upper-left corner of the inner display. It may have an iPad mini-style shape when unfolded. Additionally, the iPhone Ultra will reportedly be just 4.7mm thick when unfolded. This would make it thinner than the 5.6mm iPhone Air.
