HONOR is allegedly testing a huge battery for an upcoming phone, an 11,000mAh unit. As a reminder, the company already has phones with 10,000mAh batteries out there, the HONOR Win and Win RT, while the HONOR Power2 has a 10,080mAh unit.
HONOR’s upcoming smartphone will utilize an 11,000mAh battery
So, this news is not exactly far-fetched. The company is looking to expand its horizons even more. HONOR is planning to stuff an 11,000mAh battery in one of its upcoming smartphones.
A rumor by Digital Chat Station, a well-known tipster, says that HONOR has begun production of this new battery. It will have a rated capacity of 10,690mAh and a rated energy of 40.41Wh. It will have a typical capacity of 11,000mAh, at least.
He did not say what phone HONOR will use this battery in, though. Perhaps he does not know at this point, which is not surprising. It could be the HONOR Power3, if we had to guess, though.
The HONOR Power was announced back in mid-April last year, so exactly a year ago. It included an 8,000mAh unit. The Power2 followed in January with a 10,080mAh unit. The Power3 could end up utilizing this new 11,000mAh battery.
We’re not sure when the device will launch, but it could be the HONOR Power3
We’re not sure when HONOR will announce that phone, though. The second model came 6 months after the first. So if we’re going by that logic, it could drop in June, or around that time, but that’s just a wild guess.
The HONOR Power2 is more of a mid-range phone. It utilizes the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Elite chip, along with 12GB of RAM and a 6.79-inch 120Hz AMOLED display. It has excellent ingress protection and a 50-megapixel main camera (two rear cameras overall).
We’re not sure what improvements HONOR will look for with its successor, but it seems like battery capacity will be one of them.
