Omdia has just released a new report that concerns the Chinese smartphone market. It’s a market report for Q1 2026, and it includes the top 5 smartphone OEMs in the country. Interestingly enough, Samsung is nowhere to be found.
Samsung is struggling in the world’s largest smartphone market, it’s not even in the top 5
Samsung has been losing footing in China for quite some time now, and it didn’t manage to squeeze itself into this list. Apple, on the other hand, sure did. Not only is Apple on this list, but it’s second-placed.
Let’s start from the top, though. Huawei is leading the pack, with 13.9 million phones sold in Q1 2026. That gave the company 20% of the market, and it means it grew by 7% YoY (Year-over-Year).

Apple is second-placed with 13.1 million phones sold, and 19% of the market. It does not trail far behind Huawei. Apple also grew a lot more YoY, as the company marked a 42% growth since Q1 2025.
OPPO is third on this list with 11 million phones sold, and 16% of the market. The company lost footing YoY, though, as its sales dropped by 3%. Vivo is fourth with 10.5 million phones sold, and 15% of the market. That’s the same number of phones Vivo sold in the same period last year.
Xiaomi’s sales dropped quite a bit
Xiaomi closes out the list at the 5th spot with 8.7 million phones sold and 12% of the market. The company’s footing dropped by 35%, as it sold notably fewer phones than a year ago.
If you kept count, you’ll realize that all the other OEMs sold only 12.7 million phones and grabbed 18% of the market. Samsung is somewhere in there, but we don’t have the exact numbers.
In general, smartphone OEMs sold 69.8 million smartphones in China in Q1 2026, that’s 1% less than a year ago. Omdia claims that one of the main reasons for this is memory prices, which forced OEMs to raise smartphone prices.
