It seems like new ColorOS and OxygenOS updates are on the way with two interesting changes. ColorOS 16.1 and OxygenOS 16.1 will be very similar, of course, and they will include two new features, one of which is inspired by One UI.
OPPO and OnePlus are borrowing one of Samsung’s features
If you check out the gallery below, you’ll see three images. The first one shows a new media player UI which will be available on both OS’. The second and third show a Lockscreen Island, which seems to be inspired by One UI’s Now Bar.
We presume that the Lockscreen Island will show ongoing activities, such as media playback, an active stopwatch, and so on. That’s just a guess, though, as a media player is visible in the attached screenshot.
A stacked notification center is also coming, but that’s all we know regarding new features. We’re sure that some additional changes will be included, as this is a .1 update.
The rollout will start in a couple of days… in China first
In regards to its release, it will start rolling out in China on April 16. It will roll out as ColorOS 16.1 to both OPPO and OnePlus phones, as in China, the two brands share the same name for their OS’.
What about the global launch? Well, we still don’t have information regarding that. However, there’s a good chance that the upcoming OPPO Find X9 Ultra will launch with ColorOS 16.1 out of the box, it remains to be seen.
We’re sure that OPPO and OnePlus will start rolling out ColorOS 16.1 and OxygenOS 16.1 to global models soon after the rollout starts in China. That has been the case for previous versions, so there’s no reason to expect major delays or anything like that.
