Samsung has officially confirmed a camera bug affecting the Virtual Aperture feature and the background blur processing on its flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra. The problem is reportedly linked to the zoom photography and messes up with the background or blur processing. The bug causes the system to produce uneven or unoptimized background instead of a natural and smooth-looking blur.
Samsung takes cognizance of the new Virtual Aperture camera bug affecting blur on the Galaxy S25 Ultra
To begin with, the virtual aperture feature is designed to give users complete control over the depth and blur of the smartphone camera. It makes smartphone photography more flexible and advanced. The feature is available through the ExpertRAW mode and has all the advanced control options, just like traditional camera lenses. The feature was initially limited to the main lens. However, Samsung recently expanded the support to the telephoto lenses.
The users got happy seeing the support of Virtual Aperture on 3X and 5X zoom. However, soon after, they started noticing that the feature produces inconsistent results. Instead of providing a smooth and natural-looking blur, the software delivers images with uneven or messy edges. Multiple users have already highlighted or reported the issue in Samsung’s official community forum.
Samsung is thankfully working on a fix
After many users complained about the issue online, Samsung moderators confirmed that the developers were able to reproduce the bug. They further validated the user concerns and confirmed that it was not an isolated incident. The officials say that they’re actively working on finding the root cause of the malfunction. Once the root cause is discovered, the developers will begin working on the fix.
Since Samsung has already assured its users that they’re working on a fix, we can expect a possible patch to be rolled out alongside the upcoming One UI 8.5. It’s unlikely that the manufacturer will roll out an independent patch just for a single issue.
