After announcing Prime Video Ultra last month, Amazon is now finally launching it in the U.S. today, but at a higher price. This is a new ad-free subscription plan for Prime Video, replacing the old ad-free tier for US subscribers. While the price has gone up, the new plan brings some exclusive features to make up for it.
Amazon’s ‘Prime Video Ultra’ sees a significant price jump over the previous plan
The Prime Video Ultra is priced at $4.99 per month for current Amazon Prime subscribers in the U.S. In comparison, the previous ad-free Prime Video plan costs $2.99 per month, so it’s a significant price increase. That said, there are some new features, which are meant to make it more appealing than the ad-supported plan for Prime Video.
For one, the 4K streaming is exclusive to Prime Video Ultra. Additionally, users can now have up to five simultaneous streams at once. In comparison, the previous ad-free plan only supported three streams. Lastly, Prime Video Ultra also offers up to 100 offline downloads at a time. Again, this is a significant jump from the previous limit of 25.
4K streaming and five simultaneous streams
Let’s be honest, nobody likes ads when watching a movie or a TV show. That’s where the new Prime Video Ultra subscription plan stands out by completely removing ads. But as said, it comes at a cost, and whether it’s worth it depends on the viewer’s choice. If you’re not a big fan of ads, Amazon’s new Prime Video Ultra is naturally the way to go.
Amazon says there is no change in cost to the Amazon Prime membership. You can sign up for Prime Video Ultra by heading to the official website and selecting “Go ad-free with Ultra.” Will you sign up for the plan or be fine with getting ads when streaming?
