TCL just made its eye-friendly Android phone officially available in the US, and the price is going to turn some heads.
The TCL NXTPAPER 70 Pro is now available through T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile for just $199.99. This is one of the few phones at MWC last month that won our Best of MWC award.
The big selling point here is TCL’s NXTPAPER display technology. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s designed to reduce blue light, cut glare, and create a paper-like viewing experience that’s significantly easier on your eyes. I got some hands-on time with this at MWC last month, and the display really does feel different from a typical smartphone screen. It’s hard to explain until you see it in person, but it’s noticeably more comfortable to look at for extended periods.
You’re getting a 6.9-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate here. So it’s not like you’re sacrificing smoothness for eye comfort.
TCL says the phone can last up to seven days on a single charge when using its Max Ink Mode for reading, which is pretty wild. Even in regular use, the battery life should be solid.

TCL’s eye-friendly smartphone packs a 6.9-inch 120Hz NXTPAPER display that cuts glare and blue light, plus up to seven days of battery life in reading mode, all for just $199.99. It’s available now on T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile.
The NXTPAPER 70 Pro is built for people who actually use their phones
Let’s be real, most of us are staring at our phones for hours every day. Whether it’s reading, scrolling through social media, or watching videos. That’s exactly who TCL built this phone for. It comes with three different viewing modes so you can adjust the display depending on what you’re doing, whether that’s reading an ebook, editing photos, or watching content.
On the AI side, TCL has baked in tools for outlining, transcribing, and summarizing text. It’s not going to compete with the Galaxy AI features on Samsung flagships, but for a $200 phone, you’re getting a lot more than you’d expect.
There’s also true color calibration for creators who need accuracy, and wide-angle circular polarization for comfortable viewing from any angle. That last one is especially useful if you’re watching something with someone else looking over your shoulder.
The real story here is the value. Most phones with this kind of display tech cost well over $1,000. TCL is bringing it to a price point that just about anyone can afford. If you’re on T-Mobile or Metro and you want a phone that won’t destroy your eyes after a long day of screen time, the NXTPAPER 70 Pro is worth checking out.
