The Fitbit app on Android is starting to push out some features that were part of the public preview, with this update bringing the app up to version 4.66 and adding in several changes such as food and mood logging. The update appears to be rolling out in stages to users, as we aren’t seeing it on our end on a Google Pixel 10 Pro.
There also isn’t an Android app update available according to the Play Store. That means you may not have these features and changes displaying in your Fitbit app just yet, and it could take a little while before most or all Fitbit users are able to see and interact with them in the app. To be clear, logging food is not a new feature of the Fitbit app entirely. What’s new is that it’s now an option to log food using the new Gemini coach button in the bottom right corner of the app UI that you should see if you’re on the public preview. Logging food in general is available in the regular version of the app by hitting the “+” button.
In addition to food logging, the Fitbit 4.66 update also lets you log hydration
Just as food logging was added to the Gemini button in the Fitbit 4.66 public preview, hydration logging has been added as well. Again this is a feature that’s technically available in the non-public preview version of the app, only it’s labeled as “log water” and not log hydration. But the same data logging options are available based on the screenshots shared by 9To5Google. One minor change is the date box, which has been moved to the bottom of this page where the box for “custom amount” is located.
The public preview also switches up the nav bar at the bottom a bit. The Today tab is still there, but the Coach and You tabs are gone, replaced by Fitness, Sleep, and Health. The “+” button has also been replaced by the Gemini button, and this buttons is also now persistent across all the navigation tabs, and not just on the Today tab. What’s more is that on the Health tab, there are now a couple of new Focus Areas, such as Nutrition, and Mental wellbeing.
Since this isn’t a widely available update yet, Google should be pushing it out throughout the next few days.
