NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW service is available no a pretty wide variety of screens, from phones to computers and even the Apple Vision Pro headset. The Vision Pro isn’t the only headset you can use. It’s also possible to play GeForce NOW games on the Meta Quest headsets, and on headsets from Pico, for example.
That being said, the latest update to the service appears to amp up the capabilities for the Apple Vision Pro, making it a better option if you value game fidelity. It’s worth keeping in mind that with the Vision Pro being so expensive, it’s not recommended to pick one up just for GeForce NOW use. However, consider the upgraded GeForce NOW capabilities as a sweet little bonus. The cherry on top, if you will.
GeForce NOW will support 4K at 90 frames per second on Apple Vision Pro
While the latest update adds more than a few improvements, it also adds a few specific to Apple Vision Pro, and the 4K visuals at 90 frames per second is a key change that will make it a stellar option for cloud gaming compared to other headsets.
The clearer visuals and higher frame rate will make for smoother gameplay. Compared to Pico headsets or the Met Quest models, this is considerably higher. As those headsets will support 90 frames per second but only with a resolution up to 1400p.
As Apple Insider notes, the update is also bringing in expanded H.265 support. This change isn’t live entirely with the update. That being said, NVIDIA does confirm that it’s rolling out over the coming weeks. When it launches, it’s said to enhance visuals and streaming efficiency.
Obviously, if you already own something like the Meta Quest 3 and you want to try GeForce NOW, it’s probably not worth going down to purchase a $3,500 headset. If you already have one, though, then it’s the better choice.
