AYANEO officially announced the Konkr Pocket FIT earlier this year around the same time it announced the Konkr FIT, but has unfortunately confirmed that it will be stopping production on the handheld going forward. The Konkr FIT is a Windows handheld powered by AMD Ryzen AI 9 chipsets, while the Pocket FIT was powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and ran on Android for a more mobile gaming and emulator focus.
AYANEO says that rising component costs are the cause of the cancelled production, as the handheld is becoming too expensive to manufacture while allowing the consumer price to remain at a reasonable amount. This is likely beginning to sound familiar. That’s because the cost of RAM and storage are either forcing companies to push back hardware launches, raise the price for consumers, or stop production altogether. Such as in AYANEO’s case.
AYANEO is cancelling production on the Pocket FIT after the upcoming restock
While this is not great news for fans of AYANEO’s handhelds, there is a small silver lining. That’s the fact that AYANEO isn’t stopping production just yet. It was able to go through some production of the handheld, and it has an upcoming restock. Which means, it’s still possible to get one for the moment. However, AYANEO says that after this upcoming restock, that’s when it will likely no longer make any more.
As such, the Pocket FIT will be available while supplies last once the restock is open for buyers. There’s no telling how long that will last, of course. In addition to stopping production on the Pocket FIT, AYANEO has suspended pre-orders for the Next 2 handheld. The company says that pre-orders may resume in the future if and when component costs return to normal. It also confirms that anyone who already pre-ordered the handheld will still get one, as the company will continue production for those units.
