The second phase of a $15 million arts capital campaign at the University of Washington has identified the art and music buildings as top priorities for renovation and strategic enhancements.Â
With a strategic focus on the student experience and reach of the arts on campus, the UW Art and Music Renovation project will deliver a comprehensive interior renovation of a key performance space within the University of Washington’s School of Music in Seattle, Washington. Mortenson has been selected to complete the renovation, which focuses on modernizing critical building systems while maintaining continuous building operations.
At the heart of the project is the renovation of the 220-seat Brechemin Auditorium located on the first floor. This major upgrade includes significant ADA accessibility improvements as well as acoustic upgrades to enhance sound quality, while modernized mechanical, electrical, lighting, and audiovisual systems will support contemporary teaching and performance needs. This project’s construction is scheduled to begin in July 2026 and conclude in March 2027.
