Powerful PCs are usually associated with gaming but they can just as easily be designed entirely for work purposes, and that’s essentially the new ASUS PN55 Mini PC. This tiny little box PC might not look the type, but it’s positively packed with specs that are intended to push this thing to the limits. Designed to challenge what you may think about a work PC, and more importantly, what small form factor PCs are really capable of.
One of the most standout traits is the PN55’s capability to power up to four 4K displays. Thanks to AMD’s Radeon 800M graphics, the PN55 is more than just a mini PC, it’s kind of a mini powerhouse. In addition to the hefty graphics capabilities, the PN55 can support up to 96GB of RAM should you need it, though it’ll start with a much lower capacity for the baseline models. ASUS says it starts at 8GB, with options for 16GB or 32GB as well.
The ASUS PN55 Mini PC offers a tool-free design for easy upgrades
There’s something about having a tool-free design that makes using a PC more enjoyable, and that something is that you don’t have to have specialized equipment to upgrade or swap out parts. Chances are if you’re able to upgrade or swap out parts, you do have the tools. However, it’s always better if you don’t have to use them. The process is easier, and faster so you can get back up and running in less time. ASUS designed the PN55 with a tool-free design so it’ll be easy for users to get to the components when necessary. This could be for adding more RAM or storage, for example. It also makes it easy for technicians who need to get inside the PC and fix it.
In addition to the tool-free design, the PN55 comes with a fingerprint sensor on top for biometric login access. It also has several ports on the front for easy access to peripherals, and up to 2TB of storage. There are even more ports on the back, too, including HDMI and several other USB options, plus ethernet if you don’t want to use the Wi-Fi. Speaking of which, it supports Wi-Fi 7. ASUS does not appear to have announced availability or pricing information for these yet.
