The shadPS4 game library has expanded to a wide variety of game titles over the past several months, and now includes 109 unique playable games for users to enjoy. shadPS4 is a game emulator for PS4 games that’s compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux PCs, and it can be a great way to enjoy your favorite PlayStation games when you’re away from your actual console.
Although emulators are generally frowned upon by the companies they’re trying to emulate games from, they can be an important tool in game preservation efforts. Emulators are also just a convenient way to enjoy games you already own for the reason mentioned above. After all, it’s not exactly reasonable to cart your PS4 around with you everywhere you go. A laptop, on the other hand, is quite portable.
shadPS4 now has 109 playable games, with more likely being added consistently
The latest update for shadPS4 brings it forward to version 0.15.0 and it introduces a variety of bug fixes that should help it operate more smoothly. For example, it “automatically add missing hotkeys to the global input config,” the patch notes read.
While this version isn’t what makes all 109 of those games playable, it doesn’t hurt. As for which games can be played using this emulator, it includes like Yakuza Kiwami, Diablo III – Reaper of Souls, Dark Souls Remastered, and even Bloodborne.
The developer of shadPS4 states on their github that users should stick with using this latest version of the software for now. The next patch, which will be version 0.15.1, is expected to introduces a lot of breaking changes. The last thing you want is for features to break or not work as expected. While emulators for retro games are generally available on Android, shadPS4 is a resource-intensive software that Android might not be able to handle. Even on PC, you’ll need something that isn’t absolute baseline. That’s if you want the smoothest experience possible.
