Google is rolling out the first update of 2026 to the Pixel Camera app through the Play Store. The latest version doesn’t bring any major UI changes or overhaul to the system, but rather adds a subtle naming change and improves camera stability across Pixel devices.
Google Pixel Camera V10.3 Renames Pro Res Zoom
The latest update of the Pixel Camera app carries the version number 10.3. The most noticeable change in the newest version is the renaming of the “Pro Res Zoom” feature. On the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL, the feature now appears simply as “Pro Zoom.” The adjustment is visible in several places, including the Camera Settings menu, the model download page, and the in-app Camera Help documentation.
Google has not exactly shared the reason behind renaming the feature. However, the step could be a part of the tech giant’s strategy to simplify naming across its software and ecosystem. The original Pro Res Zoom signifies the computational zooming capabilities of the Pixel and emphasizes resolution processing during high-quality digital zoom. The new name simplifies the language and could make the feature easier for users to understand.

The revised label also appears in processing prompts and descriptions shown during image capture. In addition, Google has updated the Pixel 10 Pro product listing to reflect the new Pro Zoom name. This ensures consistency between marketing material and the device’s camera interface.
Further, the update arrives alongside improvements delivered in the Android 16 QPR3 March 2026 system update. That release fixed an issue that could cause the camera app to crash on Pixel 9 and later devices. Google also added Connected Cameras support. Pixel devices can now connect to external camera hardware such as webcams, DSLR cameras, or another Pixel phone via USB.
