The RAM shortage takes no prisoners as Samsung is reportedly worried about increasing RAM prices having a negative impact on its mobile business. Samsung has typically don very well for itself in the mobile segment. Each year, it launches a brand-new Galaxy S flagship series, this year being the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra, and each year those phones end up being quite popular with consumers the world over.
Even the Galaxy S26 series is doing well so far only a couple of days after the official launch on March 11, despite increased prices for the two standard and plus models. Nevertheless, Samsung has is said to have some concerns that the higher cost of RAM for its bill of materials is going to ultimately lead to lower operating profits. It’s apparently so worried that it’s already taking quite specific measures to potentially offset some of these costs that may not be recuperated by smartphone sales.
RAM prices reportedly have Samsung issuing cost cuts like banning business class flights
When you’re a company as big as Samsung, ever-increasing operating profits are always a top goal. If those expectations aren’t met, or there’s a fear that they won’t be met, you likely start to make decisions that will cut costs in hopes that it will offset losses.
That appears to be what Samsung is doing now, according to a new report from Hankyung (via Android Central). User Jukan @GTC2026 no X states that mounting concerns over possible profit losses have Samsung starting to make cost cutting measures across the DX division, and that this includes banning business class flights. Further adding that going forward, executives will need to fly economy class.
Samsung’s concerns may not be completely unfounded. A recent report from late last month suggests that smartphones sales in 2026 are set to decrease due to higher prices on RAM, which is resulting in manufacturers charging higher prices for phones. The prediction is that many consumers won’t want to buy these higher-priced devices and may look at less expensive options.
