This Summer, Samsung is set to announce the Galaxy Z Flip 8, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and potentially a wider Galaxy Fold as well. Now, ahead of that launch, we are finding out what the battery size of the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be, and it’s going to be the same as the Galaxy Z Flip 7 – 4,300mAh.
That’s a pretty decent-sized battery for a flip phone, though Motorola does offer bigger batteries in its Razr devices. For instance, the Razr Ultra does have a 4,700mAh capacity battery. And the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is only 100mAh smaller than the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Which is pretty surprising.
This disappointing news comes after Samsung had upgraded the battery capacity of the Flip model for the past two years. Something that Samsung doesn’t do often – just look at the Galaxy S Ultra models, which have had the same battery capacity for 6 years now.
Samsung could skip out on an ‘FE’ model this year
Last year, Samsung decided to expand its ‘FE’ range to the Flip, and it doesn’t seem to have done very well for Samsung. The company quickly ended the production of the phone after a few months.
A big reason why the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE likely didn’t do well is that it was essentially the Flip 6 but with an Exynos chip, and it was only $100 less than the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which had some pretty big upgrades. It wasn’t as affordable as, say, the Galaxy S25 FE or the Galaxy Watch FE.
This was likely a way for Samsung to try to compete with Motorola, which has been undercutting Samsung for quite some time with the Razr. It offers three Razr models, starting at $600, while the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE was still priced at $900.
