A well-known tipster has just doubled down on his previous OnePlus 16 information. Digital Chat Station claims that the OnePlus 16 will not only include the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, but a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera as well.
The OnePlus 16 will utilize top-of-the-line specs, including the all-new LPDDR6
The tipster went to Weibo to share the information with everyone. In addition to these two details, he also mentioned that LPDDR6 will be included as well. That is a rather important detail here.
LPDDR6 is tipped to roughly double the maximum bandwidth of LPDDR5. It will jump from a peak of 6.4 Gbps to as high as 14.4 Gbps. It’s also said to optimize for the massive data throughput required by on-device generative AI.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro will be a 2nm flagship chip
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro is, as many of you know, expected to become the company’s new flagship processor. It will be a 2nm chip, compared to a 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which is the current-gen flagship.
Previous reports suggested that the phone will have a 12GB RAM + 256GB storage base model, and that it may cost CNY5,000 ($725) in China. That means we’re looking at a price hike, which is not surprising.
Memory and storage prices have spiked a lot, not to mention that this phone will have a rather pricey chip and brand-new memory. We’re also expecting OnePlus to use UFS 4.1 storage, but we’ll see.
Android 17 will come out of the box
The device is also said to support a 1.5K OLED display with a 200Hz or 240Hz refresh rate, and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner. Android 17 will come pre-installed along with ColorsOS 17 / OxygenOS 17.
We’ve seen strong information out there that the availability of the OnePlus 16 may not be as wide as expected. The company may opt to release the phone in fewer markets, and while we will likely see a global variant, considerable changes may be upon us. It remains to be seen.
