The iPhone 17e debuted last week and brings key upgrades like MagSafe support, 256GB base storage, and C1X modem. This is Apple’s low-cost alternative to flagship models with some compromises. While the phone has yet to hit store shelves, rumors about next year’s model have started to surface. A new Weibo leak claims that Apple has finalized the iPhone 18e.
Apple has reportedly already finalized the iPhone 18e
Weibo tipster Fixed Focus Digital, in a new post, claims that although iPhone 17e has just been announced, Apple has already finalized the iPhone 18e. That’s the extent of the leak, as the tipster hasn’t mentioned any hardware specifications of the new model. Much like the iPhone 17e, the successor may also debut in March next year, that is, if the leak pans out.Â
Reports suggest that the iPhone 18e will debut alongside the iPhone 18 and iPhone Air in Spring 2027. For those who are not following the developments closely, Apple will reportedly adopt a new split-launch strategy for this year’s models. The iPhone 18 Pro models will launch this year in September, while the iPhone 18 may move to early next year.
Iterational upgrade
The iPhone 18e may bring some iteration upgrades over the iPhone 17e. As a refresher, the iPhone 16e successor features a 6.1-inch OLED Super Retina XDR display, but the refresh rate is still 60Hz. Will Apple finally bring 120Hz to its e-series model in 2027? We’ll have to wait to find out. It gets the A19 chip, but with one less GPU core than the standard A19 found in the iPhone 17. It has a single 48MP camera on the back and a 12MP shooter on the front.
The iPhone 18e may arrive with an A20 chip and possibly a Dynamic Island design on the front. This is considering how it was widely rumored for the iPhone 17e. We’ll know more about the phone in the coming months.
