It’s official, the Vivo X300 Ultra will feature Sony’s new flagship camera sensor. In other words, the Vivo X300 Ultra will use the Sony LYTIA-901 aka LYT-901, as its main camera sensor, the company has confirmed.
The Vivo X300 Ultra will utilize the Sony LYT-901, the company’s best camera sensor yet
If you take a look at the image below, you’ll see a comparison between the Vivo X200 Ultra’s main camera sensor and the Vivo X300 Ultra’s main snapper. The size difference is obvious here.

The Sony LYTIA-901 was announced at the very end of last year, and it’s Sony’s first 200-megapixel camera sensor for smartphones. It’s a 1/1.12-inch camera sensor, and the best one Sony released to date.
The main camera on the Vivo X300 Ultra will offer a 35mm focal length and allow it to capture more light per pixel compared to the last-gen model. The stabilization will also be improved from CIPA 5.0 to CIPA 6.5.
The lens design is upgraded to 1 glass + 6 plastic elements, which have special coatings. Vivo also said that the new coating will reduce glare by up to 30%. The Sony LYT-901 offers advanced HDR tech, a 12-bit pipeline, and uses a Quad-Quad Byer Coding, amongst other tech.
Vivo’s ISP, processing, and ZEISS will play a huge role in image quality
All that, combined with Vivo’s ISP, processing, and ZEISS, should make for an extremely compelling camera package. This is the sensor we were hoping for, and Vivo delivered.
There are two other sensors that are a mystery, its periscope telephoto and ultrawide snappers. We’re expecting either a 1/1.28-inch or 1/1.4-inch sensor for the periscope telephoto camera (200MP), and the same goes for an ultrawide camera, though that will be a 50-megapixel unit most likely.
Vivo presented the Vivo X300 Ultra’s camera telephoto extender at MWC 2026, without actually launching the phone. The company also talked about videography, and what improvements it’s making in that regard. The ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra is the name of the telephoto extender.
It’s coming to global markets
The phone itself is coming to global markets this time around, for the first time ever for the company’s ‘Ultra’ phones. We’re expecting it to launch by the end of this month, but nothing has been confirmed just yet.
