The Google Tensor G6 has seemingly just appeared early… on Geekbench. What’s truly surprising, however, is that the chip has 7 cores. It has the ‘Google Kodiak’ codename, by the way.
The ‘Kodiak’ name was previously associated with the Pixel 10 Pro XL, but Notebookcheck says this new appearance could point to a Pixel 11 model instead. Perhaps the Pixel 11 Pro XL. Processor configuration is the reason why.
The alleged Google Tensor G6 chip has 7 cores, and higher clock speeds
Based on the listing, the new configuration includes one Arm C1-Ultra core clocked at 4.11GHz, four Arm C1-Pro cores at 3.38GHz, and two C1-Pro cores at 2.65GHz. The clock speeds are quite a bit higher than what we’ve seen in the Tensor G5.
The thing is, this is a 7-core chip, compared to an 8-core Tensor G5. It’s unusual to say the least. The OPPO Find N5 does include a 7-core version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, though, just as a side note.
When it comes to graphics, things are different in that regard as well. A PowerVR C-Series CXTP-48-1536 GPU is mentioned here, while the Pixel 10 Pro XL uses a PowerVR DXT-48-1536 chip.
Don’t pay much attention to its benchmark scores at this point
Benchmark scores are… very bad, though. Do note that this is probably just a prototype, so benchmark scores are not something to go by. Still, let’s mention that it managed to score 845 points in the single-core test and 2,657 points in the multi-core test.
The Pixel 10 Pro XL unit, with the Tensor G5, scored 2,267 points in the single-core test and 6,034 points in the multi-core test. So this is definitely not a final unit or anything of the sort, and you can easily disregard the benchmark scores, they’ll be a lot higher when the final version comes knockin’.
That’s basically it. Do take this whole alleged Tensor G6 listing with a grain of salt, as we cannot confirm it’s genuine. The Google Pixel 11 series is expected to arrive later this year, as many of you know.
