When you think of British car brands, what comes to mind? Jaguar, Aston Martin, Land Rover, and maybe Rover or Lotus? Well, there was a time when a new Japanese-infused British luxury brand named Sterling tried to burst onto the US car market but failed so spectacularly that the whole brand would die just five years later, in a way only the 1980s British car industry would be able to. On the other side of the Sterling nameplate is a small, lightweight kit car that, while US-owned, could also trace its roots back to the UK. Join us as we look at both these brands, what models they produced, what went wrong, and what happened to the Sterling name since.
