After a delay, the arrival of season 2 in Battlefield 6 is finally here for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms, and developers say that the delay should be a one-off situation and that future seasons shouldn’t suffer the same fate. Battlefield 6 launched last year with a decent amount of success after lots of hype and excitement built up, but after the launch of season 1, the game’s player count started to fall. Now, Battlefield Studios is hoping to bring back some of those players. Perhaps a majority of them. And it thinks that season 2 will be able to accomplish this task.
Season 2 of Battlefield 6 ushers in a wide variety of changes, balances, content additions, and more. This includes a new map called Contaminated, which the studio says supports all combat sizes, land vehicles, and helicopters. Season 2 is also introducing new weapons, vehicles, and events throughout. Of course, there’s also a new battle pass with unlocks to chase. The season is already live and available to play for anyone who owns Battlefield 6 on any platform.
Battlefield 6 season 2 delay won’t happen for future seasons due to internal changes
If the delay of the second season has any players on the fence about coming back or investing larger amounts of time into the game, the game’s developers have some reassuring words. According to the game’s producer Phil Girette, internal changes made across Battlefield Studios will prevent a delay like this from happening for future season releases.
That means deployment of big content updates down the line should resume a regular cadence. Speaking to GameReactor, Girette said that future seasons should be available to players as soon as the previous one ends.
Girette also mentions that he believes season 2 will bring back players who may have abandoned Battlefield 6 after the extension of season 1. That remains to be seen, but Grette believes season 2 is a very strong content update for the game. So, he has faith in the content’s ability to entice players.
