The Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s cameras were tested by DXOMARK. Do note that the Chinese model was tested, as the global unit was not announced just yet. We’re not sure if there will be any difference in camera performance, but there shouldn’t be.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra cameras got tested by DXOMARK, and they’re not in the top 5
In any case, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra ranks high on DXOMARK’s list, but it’s not in the top 5. The phone ended up in sixth place, as it’s sharing that spot with the OPPO Find X9 Pro. Both devices managed to get 166 camera points overall.
The very first phone on the list is the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra with 175 points, and it’s followed by the Vivo X300 Pro (171 points) and OPPO Find X8 Ultra / Apple iPhone 17 Pro (168 points). Do note that DXOMARK didn’t test every camera flagship smartphone, though.
The phone managed to get more points in the photo department than in the camera department, though. DXOMARK highly praised the device’s outdoor capabilities, as well as its zoom capabilities. Some Pros and Cons have been highlighted in the camera review.
It has a lot of positives, but not everything is great
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra has a very good trade-off between texture and noise, with the exception of low-light video, says DXOMARK. It also has an excellent telephoto zoom, nice color rendering, and accurate white balance in both photo and video modes.
The phone also provide natural looking bokeh mode with very good subject isolation.
What about Cons? Well, DXOMARK mentioned that the autofocus lacks smoothness in a video mode, and the depth of field is very limited for group pictures.
The company also mentioned that exposure and white balance instabilities are occasionally visible. That’s basically all the Pros and Cons. Do note that a lot more is said in the full review, of course.
The global Xiaomi 17 Ultra variant could offer a bit different experience; we’ll have to wait and see. That’s the model that we’re planning to review, so stay tuned for that. We’re expecting it to rank high amongst the best smartphones out there.
