Samsung is preparing to release its One UI 8.5 with an upgraded screen recording tool that supports partial screen capture. The company is working day and night on the upcoming software version. It is touted to bring several optimizations and system refinements. It is currently in the beta testing stage, and the stable release is expected soon.
Samsung One UI 8.5 to bring partial screen recording capability
One of the most practical improvements in the upcoming One UI 8.5 is going to be the partial screen recording support. Unlike traditional tools that capture everything visible, this version allows users to manually select a specific portion of the screen. This makes it easier to focus on a single app window, a conversation, or a video player without unnecessary background content. Some Android UIs already have the feature, and now, One UI is getting it too.
The feature is currently accessible in the latest beta version of the One UI 8.5. It is running smoothly in the current stage. This suggests the tech giant has optimized the feature well before its release. However, it comes with an additional feature called the automatic area detection. As the name implies, it enables the software to identify key elements such as video players and frame them automatically. If optimized properly, this will eliminate the need for manual framing.
The One UI 8.5 is going to be more intelligent and optimized
The new partial screen recording is not simply a cropping tool but a more intelligent capture method. Samsung previously introduced similar auto framing technology for screenshots in One UI 8.0, though it was limited in scope. However, this won’t be the case with the partial screen recording as it is expected to arrive on all the popular models.
As said earlier, Samsung is currently beta testing the One UI 8.5, which is based on Android 16. The official release is expected to take place alongside the launch of Galaxy S26. Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S26 series on February 25, and you can already reserve one of the devices through Samsung’s Galaxy Reserve program.
