The retail operator of Eddie Bauer will permanently close its corporate headquarters office in Seattle and lay off 60 workers.
Catalyst Brands, which operates Eddie Bauer stores, officially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The brand and intellectual property remain owned by Authentic Brands Group. According to a state Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing, the company’s 50,000-square-foot office at 2200 First Ave. S. in Sodo will be shuttered. Layoffs at the headquarters will occur in phases, beginning in April and continuing through June.
In addition to its headquarters, Eddie Bauer retail and outlet locations in the United States and Canada will also close through a sale process of its store operations, either in full or partially. Catalyst Brands was created in 2025 following the merger of JCPenney with Sparc Group. Catalyst licenses the rights to manage brands, including Nautica, Brooks Brothers, and Aeropostale.
