Samsung rolled out a software update for the Galaxy Watch 6 last week alongside its premium tablets. This offered the January 2026 security patch, with fixes to 55 security issues present in the earlier version of the OS. However, back then, it was limited to South Korea. That changes now, as the January 2026 security update for the Galaxy Watch 6 expands to more regions.

The Bluetooth variant of the Galaxy Watch 6 in India is reportedly getting the update, as reported by Tarun Vats. This brings the build number R950XXS1CZA1/R950OXM1CZA1 and weighs ~158MB in size. The January 2026 security update fixes 55 security issues, which means your smartwatch should be more secure now.
The changelog image notes that you won’t be able to use the wearable while installing the update, even for emergency calls. Some settings of your watch may also change. While the tech giant says that the update shouldn’t affect your personal data, it’s always a good idea to back up important data, just in case.

You can check for the new update from Watch Settings > Watch software update > Download and install. Beyond India, Samsung will expand the update to other regions shortly. If the update didn’t hit you yet, it means Samsung hasn’t made it available in your region. Keep waiting, it should reach you soon. Like with any security updates, it’s essential you install this one too.
