Samsung makes some of the best smartphones in the industry right now. The company’s flagship Galaxy S-series packs incredibly powerful hardware, while its foldables are also equally impressive. But that’s not all Samsung’s known for. In fact, the company’s budget and mid-range lineup are often praised as being great value for money. If you’re thinking of getting a new phone and want to spend $0 on it, then T-Mobile is running a promo that lets you get the Samsung Galaxy A16 for free.
T-Mobile is practically giving away the Galaxy A16
Right now, T-Mobile is offering its customers the Galaxy A16 for free. Don’t get us wrong, it’s not a free phone for nothing. You’ll have to activate a new line and purchase it on a monthly payment plan. Then there is sales tax to consider and the device connection charge. However, the actual device itself won’t cost you a single cent.
If you’re a new T-Mobile customer, you’ll have to sign up for an Experience Beyond or More, or an Essentials plan with at least one new line. But if you’re already a T-Mobile customer, you can get the device for free if you add a new line to your current plan. Those who successfully take up this offer will then receive 24 monthly bill credits, just as long as their account is in good standing.
What can you expect from the Galaxy A16?
Right off the bat, we should warn you that you shouldn’t expect too much from the Galaxy A16. It’s an entry-level phone with basic specs. We’re talking about a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, a base of 4GB of RAM that goes up to 8GB, depending on your configuration, and up to 256GB of storage.
It features a triple camera setup, but don’t get too impressed yet. It sports a 50MP main sensor, which is accompanied by a pair of 2MP sensors. One is for ultrawide, and the other is for macro. It also packs a 5,000mAh battery with support for 25W charging. Like we said, it’s not the most impressive specs we’ve seen.
However, at $199, it’s actually incredible value for money. Sure, you’re not getting the fastest chipset or the brightest cameras, but come on, at that price? It’s actually pretty decent. If you need a bit more perspective or convincing, the Galaxy A16 ranked fifth for the best-selling smartphones of 2025. It beat out the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which came in ninth. That should tell you something already.
