The time has come to compare two flagship smartphones from Google. We’ll compare the company’s foldable flagship and its non-foldable counterpart. In other words, this is a Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold vs Google Pixel 10 Pro XL comparison. Both of these phones were announced back in August last year, and they do have some things in common, though there are also a lot of differences here, of course.
We’ll kick this off by talking about the specs of both smartphones, following which we’ll jump over to their designs, display, performance, battery life, cameras, and audio output. We’ve reviewed both phones a while back, and are quite familiar with them both. With that being said, let’s get to it, shall we?

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold vs Google Pixel 10 Pro XL: Design
The two devices do have a similar design language, but look different still. They both have a frame out of aluminum, while glass is included on their back. The Gorilla Glass Victus 2 from Corning is used on the back, in case you’re wondering. The cover display on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold and the only display on the Pixel 10 Pro XL do look very similar, though the latter is bigger, of course.
They both have thin, uniform bezels, with a centered display camera hole up top. The corner curvature is basically the same here. The main display on the Pixel 10 Pro XL has uniform bezels as well, while the display camera hole sits in the top-right corner. Both phones have their physical keys on the right-hand side. The power/lock key sits above the volume up and down buttons on the device.
If we flip them around, you’ll notice that both phones have flat backplates. The camera module on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is squarish and has two pill-shaped cutouts on the inside. The Pixel 10 Pro XL has a camera visor on the back, a horizontal one, which sits at the top of the phone’s back side. Both of these phones are IP68 certified, which is quite impressive in the case of the Pixel 10 Pro XL. Both of them are also quite slippery, while the Pixel 10 Pro XL is notably heavier, though both of them have some heft to them.
Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold vs Google Pixel 10 Pro XL: Display
The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold has an 8-inch Foldable LTPO OLED main display. That display supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and HDR10+ content as well. The peak brightness here is 3,000 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is around 88%, while the resolution is 2152 x 2076 pixels. The display aspect ratio is 1:1. The cover display measures 6.4 inches, and it’s an OLED panel as well. It’s flat, and it supports a 120Hz refresh rate, along with HDR content. The Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects this display. The peak brightness here is 3,000 nits.

The Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, on the other hand, comes with a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display. That panel is also flat, and it supports a 120Hz refresh rate. HDR10+ content is supported, while the peak brightness is 3,300 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is around 88%, while the resolution is 2992 x 1344 pixels. The display aspect ratio here is 20:9, while the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 from Corning protects this display.
All three of these displays are quite good, actually. The one on the Pixel 10 Pro XL stands slightly above the rest, but quite frankly, you’ll be happy with all of these panels. They’re all vivid, have good viewing angles, and they’re more than sharp enough. The touch response is good, and the crease on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s main panel is not exactly noticeable when you look at it straight on. All of these displays are also bright enough.
Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold vs Google Pixel 10 Pro XL: Performance
These two smartphones are a part of the same series and are fueled by the same processor. Google’s Tensor G5 chip fuels the two phones, a 3nm processor. This is the very first Tensor processor manufactured by TSMC; by the way, the previous ones were manufactured by Samsung. That chip is backed by 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM in both of these smartphones, along with UFS 4.0 flash storage.
The performance these two phones offer is basically the same. That’s not surprising considering the similarities on the hardware front, not to mention the software. They both offer snappy performance in day-to-day use. They can easily handle more serious multitasking tasks and so on. There’s really nothing to complain about here, even though they are technically less snappy than Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Dimensity 9500 phones. That’s hardly noticeable unless you compare them side-by-side, but even then, there’s not much of a difference.
What about gaming? Well, neither of these two phones is made for gaming, that’s for sure. They can, however, handle pretty much every game you throw their way. Even graphically-demanding titles are not a problem, though they may not run as smoothly as they would on more powerful chips. Offerings from Qualcomm and MediaTek have notably more graphical prowess. Still, the gaming is just fine on these two devices.
Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold vs Google Pixel 10 Pro XL: Battery
There is a 5,015mAh battery included inside the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The Pixel 10 Pro XL, on the flip side, includes a 5,200mAh battery. The two phones actually offer rather similar battery life, in case you were wondering. At least that was the case during our usage. The Pixel 10 Pro XL tended to provide slightly more, more often than not, but the difference was minimal. For most people, both of these phones will be sufficient.
However, if you’re a true power user, you may not be able to get through your day on a single charge. When we truly pushed both phones, we were able to drain them before the day’s end. Those are extreme use case situations, though, and as already mentioned, most people won’t have such problems.
If you end up draining them before it’s time, do note that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold supports 30W wired, 15W wired (Qi2), and also Bypass charging. The Pixel 10 Pro XL supports 45W wired, 25W wireless (Qi2), reverse wired, and Bypass charging. The Pixel 10 Pro XL can be fully charged in around an hour and 20 minutes, while it will take the foldable will take longer than that, over an hour and a half. Well, presuming you have a compatible charger, as neither of these two comes with a charger included in the box.
Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold vs Google Pixel 10 Pro XL: Cameras
The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold has three cameras on the back. A 48-megapixel main camera (1/2.0-inch sensor size) is backed by a 10.5-megapixel ultrawide unit (1/3.4-inch sensor size, 127-degree FoV). The third camera on the back is a 10.8-megapixel periscope telephoto unit (1/3.2-inch sensor size, 5x optical zoom).

The Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, on the flip side, also has three cameras on the back, but different ones. A 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.31-inch sensor size) is backed by a 48-megapixel ultrawide unit (1/2.55-inch sensor size, 123-degree FoV). The third included camera is a 48-megapixel periscope telephoto unit (1/2.55-inch sensor size, 5x optical zoom).
While the Pixel 10 Pro Fold generally does a good job of keeping up with the Pixel 10 Pro XL in terms of image quality, the Pixel 10 Pro XL provides better results. It has more powerful hardware, so that’s not as surprising. The difference is especially visible in low-light and zoom photos. Both phones do provide rather contrasty photos, which do not look realistic, but look great nonetheless.
Audio
You’ll find stereo speakers inside both of these phones. The loudness they provide is quite good, as is the audio output quality. There’s really not much to complain about. They’re not the best speakers around, but they’re good enough.
There is no audio jack on either one of the two phones. They do offer Type-C USB ports, which you can use to hook up your wired headphones to, though. Alternatively, Bluetooth 6.0 is supported on both phones for wireless audio connectivity.
