As suspected, the Samsung Galaxy S26 will not come with magnets built in. This is a very unfortunate turn of events, as until recently, everything pointed to the fact that magnets would be built in. It actually seems like Samsung decided on this change not long ago.
Built-in magnets are “100%” not coming with the Galaxy S26
The information comes from Ice Universe, a trusted tipster. He said that he has confirmed the information from “independent sources” and that he’s “100%” sure of it. Truth be said, he was talking about the Galaxy S26 Ultra, but if it applies to that device, it applies to the entire series.
Some of the company’s upcoming cases surfaced recently, showing a version of the case with and without a magnetic ring. That was one clue that magnets will not be built in. We’ve also received official specs for the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra, which mention the Wireless Power Share feature. That feature would essentially not be possible if magnets were built in.
Adding magnets to the Pixel 10 series was one of the best decisions Google made, and one of the biggest boosts for those phones. That not only enables you to wirelessly charge them via magnetic power banks, but you can also utilize a ton of magnetic accessories.
Considering that the Samsung Galaxy S26 series will not exactly be a huge revamp, this magnetic feature would be a nice addition. For some reason, however, Samsung decided against it.
You’ll have to rely on cases for magnetic support
This is, of course, not an official confirmation yet. However, this is a trusted tipster, and if he says he’s 100% sure of it, we really have no reason to doubt him. You’ll have to rely on cases if you’d like to add the magnetic feature to the Galaxy S26 series.
Many people do use cases either way, so that won’t be much of an issue. Those of you who are planning not to use a case, well, you’re out of luck. The entire series is expected to launch on February 25.
