Google has now begun to roll out the latest update for Android 16 and Pixels, which includes the February 2026 security patch. Google did issue a security bulletin this time around, which doesn’t always happen. But, as we can tell from the security bulletin, there’s not a whole lot of issues that need to be addressed.
But there is a big update coming. Google is preparing to launch Android 16 QPR3 within the next month. This is the third quarterly update for Android 16, which typically gets rolled out within Q1. Which means we should have it before the end of next month.
Google has been releasing betas for QPR3 over the past few months, and we do know that there are some great features coming in this update. This is also going to be a big performance update this year, which is good to see, as Pixels routinely have been plagued with performance issues – and battery issues.
Android 16 QPR3 should launch around the same time as the Google Pixel 10a
Many leaks have been pointing towards a February 18, 2026 announcement for the Pixel 10a, and it’ll likely be available in March. Which could line up quite nicely with the Android 16 QPR3 launch. Google does typically push out a rather large update with new Pixels, so this is not a huge surprise.
The Google Pixel 10a is currently rumored to look almost identical to the Pixel 9a and have mostly the same specs and features as well. Hopefully, the price does not increase, since we are seeing huge price increases for RAM and NAND worldwide right now. But it would not surprise us to see it jump even higher.
This year, the Google Pixel 10a is rumored to come in four colors: Obsidian, Porcelain, Berry, and Lavender. A small departure from the Pixel 9a colors, but still mostly the same.
