The company that makes large power transformers for the energy sector plans to invest $421 million in its North Carolina factories. Siemens Energy’s plans will create about 500 jobs across multiple locations.
The expansion will include its 1 million square foot Charlotte complex, which is expected to create about 500 jobs.
Last year the company announced a $150 million investment in Charlotte. Siemens Energy expects the first turbines manufactured in Charlotte to begin shipping in the next 2 to 3 years.
Besides the Charlotte announcement, in Raleigh, Siemens Energy is expanding grid technology project execution, engineering and sales plus research and development.
The announcement is part of a $1 billion investment by Siemens Energy in manufacturing in the United States.
