Eddie Bauer, the Seattle-based outdoor clothing brand, is expected to shutter all of its stores in North America after filing for bankruptcy, including 11 locations in Washington.
According to financial data firm Octus in a recent report, Catalyst Brands, which holds the licensing rights to operate Eddie Bauer’s brick-and-mortar stores, plans to pursue the chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. The move is expected to result in the store closures, impacting Eddie Bauer’s 180 U.S. and Canada store locations.
The Eddie Bauer brand and IP is owned by Authentic Brands Group. While the plans are not yet final, and could change, sources said the the chapter 11 filing would not impact any of Eddie Bauer’s retail operations outside North America. Eddie Bauer’s manufacturing, wholesale and online operations are being, or have already been, transferred from Catalyst, whose retail portfolio also includes Aéropostale, Lucky Brand, Nautica and JCPenney to Outdoor 5, LLC (Oved).
