Developers received approval from the City of Austin to build an eight-building project at 4201 S. Congress, which is also the project’s name. The Austin Business Journal reports it will offer up 200,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and office space at the intersection of South Congress Avenue and Industrial Boulevard, in the St. Elmo Arts District. Redcar Properties is the developer.
The 5.5-acre property is already developed with three brick and tin buildings, two of which will be demolished. The third building, which is about 84,000 square feet, will be partially demolished.
The eight proposed buildings will have a variety of uses and sizes. Five of the buildings will have restaurant space, and seven will have office space, the largest at 67,000 square feet, which will rise 60 feet.
The project’s architect is Michael Hsu Office of Architecture.
