- New Speedster rebodies any Porsche 718 from 2017 onward.
- Custom bodywork evokes the classic 356 Speedster look.
- All factory ADAS features remain fully functional post-build.
It’s been nearly ten years since Missouri-based coachbuilder Stärke Motor Company showed us its original Porsche Speedster replica, crafted from older Boxster models. Now in 2026, the company is back with a second-generation version, this time converting any 2017 or newer 718 Boxster or Cayman into a contemporary reimagining of the famous Porsche 356.

Given the 718’s significantly larger dimensions compared to the original 356, Stärke’s latest design ends up with somewhat unconventional proportions. Each build begins with a factory 718 chassis, which is then wrapped in entirely bespoke bodywork intended to evoke the spirit of the classic Speedster.
Many of the new exterior panels are faithful recreations of what’s found on the original Speedster. For example, the front end features the same circular headlights and bulging wheel arches, which look excellent. The car also sits on distinctive polished chrome wheels and features a pair of cute little wing mirrors.
Underneath, It’s All 718
Despite the vintage skin, Stärke says all of the factory driver-assistance features remain functional. That’s possible because the transformation leaves the car’s underlying architecture intact.
Engine-wise, the company doesn’t touch a thing, so whether the donor car came with the 2.0-liter turbo flat-four, the 2.5-liter version, or the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six, the finished Speedster retains its original setup.
Buyers can tailor the final result with a wide array of customization choices. Paint colors are virtually unlimited, and interior trim options cover an equally broad spectrum of hues and materials.
Familiar Cabin with Minor Tweaks
While the exterior is very different, the interior largely remains unchanged from the original 718. With that being said, Stärke has removed the Porsche emblem from the steering wheel, likely for legal reasons. In fact, the sports car no longer has any Porsche branding, not even on the outside.
What Does It Cost to Build One?
Owners who already have a donor 718 Boxster or Cayman can expect to pay a minimum of $135,000 for the full conversion. For those starting from scratch, Stärke will source the base vehicle and handle the transformation for a starting price of $189,000.
