Nintendo is reportedly gearing up to hold its third Direct showcase of 2026, and it’s supposedly focusing on Nintendo’s partners. As opposed to revealing upcoming games that are coming directly from Nintendo, the showcase is said to be about third-party studios that are bringing their games to the Nintendo Switch 2 platform.
This isn’t too unlike what Sony does with its PlayStation State of Play livestream events. Every once in a while, it will have a showcase that focuses on third-party games rather than its own PlayStation Studios titles. Of course, it also does the same thing with its own games, having had one for Ghost of Yotei late last year before the game’s official launch. Nintendo is no different in this regard, and it’s even more important now with the increased number of third-party games coming to the Switch 2 compared to the original Switch. This is mainly happening because of the console’s increased performance.
The Nintendo Direct Showcase on February 5th will focus on partner studios
According to the most recent rumor, the Direct coming up next week will focus on partner studios. It’s still unclear what games will be shown off at the Nintendo Direct, but this is nothing new. Leaks don’t happen often for this kind of thing, so viewers probably won’t know what the Direct will show off until it’s actually live. There are, of course, some things to speculate on. The Nintendo Switch 2 is likely to have several bigger third-party games coming this year, like the Duskbloods developed by FromSoftware, as well as 007: First Light. Both of these games, alongside a few others, could be set up for next week’s showcase. Call of Duty is also supposed to be coming this year, so perhaps that will be at the showcase as well.
