Back during CES 2026, Dell announced the latest desktops in its Alienware Area-51 series, powered by one of AMD’s most sought-after CPUs, and one of the most sought-after CPUs in general when it comes to the PC gaming community, the Ryzen 7 9850X3D. This week, Dell is announcing the official North American launch of the newest Area-51 gaming desktops. Dell says these should be live today, but they’re not currently live on the site.
In addition to the AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D CPU, the Area-51 comes with an NVIDIA RTX 50-series GPU featuring DLSS 4 support with 4X multi-frame gen (soon to be 6X multi-frame gen later this year). It’s worth noting that some of the specs are the same as last year. For instance, the RTX 5080 came in the Area-51 that launched last year. The PC case also hasn’t changed. Alienware has kept the same design, but that’s a good thing because it was changed with last year’s launch, and it actually looks pretty stylish.

The Alienware Area-51 will launch with four different graphics options
As is typical with gaming PCs, Alienware’s Area-51 will come with multiple graphics options. In this case, you can purchase it with one of four different GPU models. All of them are RTX 50-series GPUs, starting with the RTX 5070 with 12GB of VRAM. You can also go with the RTX 5070 Ti or the RTX 5080 with 16GB of VRAM, or the RTX 5090 with 32GB of VRAM if you’re feeling particularly lavish and can afford the price.
Speaking of price, Alienware hasn’t officially confirmed the prices of these new configurations yet, but they likely start a little higher than $3,349.99, which is the base cost for the Ryzen 7 9700X configuration with an RTX 5070. If you’re looking to upgrade to the RTX 5090 and get the new AMD chip, be prepared to spend a lot more. It’s also worth noting that you’ll be able to configure other components as well, and these changes can lower or increase the price. If you buy directly through Dell’s website, then the configurator should auto-switch some of the components for you, as not all options will be compatible with certain hardware.
The Alienware Area-51 can also come with up to 12TB of storage, but as little as 1TB, with a bunch of options in between. So you’ll have a lot of choice there. As for RAM, you can either go with 32GB or 64GB. These will probably be available on Amazon as well as through other retailers, but you will likely have the most options going directly through Dell, thanks to the configurator. While these desktops will get kind of expensive, it’s likely now a lot cheaper to buy a prebuilt like this than building your own gaming PC, thanks to the increase in GPU prices.
