Google Wallet is a pretty useful app if you’re someone that’s trying to find ways to get rid of physical cards in their wallet. Many of us have a variety of cards, like library cards, train or bus cards, loyalty or reward cards that can add up to become a pretty thick and heavy wallet. This is where Google Wallet comes in, and now an Android Authority report has revealed an upcoming change that gives the app a new UI.
Google Wallet to get a new UI in upcoming update
Right now, Google Wallet shows everything in a vertical list. Each item has its own icon, but when you’ve got a dozen different things stored in there, scrolling through to find your gym membership or coffee shop loyalty card takes longer than it should.
According to Android Authority’s screenshots, the new design switches to a grid layout with big, colorful cards. Google will automatically pick your first four passes and mark them as favorites. This means that these passes will show up front and center when you open the app. The good news is that these aren’t fixed. If you don’t like Google’s choices, you can manually star or unstar passes to customize what appears on your screen.
Ultimately, the new UI for Google Wallet creates a cleaner look. You get to pick the passes that you actually use the most often. But that’s not all. The update also brings a new floating action button at the bottom. It’s split into two parts, one for adding new passes and another for viewing everything you’ve stored.
When will we see it?
At the moment, it is unclear when these changes will be pushed out to users. What Android Authority discovered was in the Google Wallet APK. This means that these changes might not be 100% set in stone yet. There’s always a chance that the final version could look slightly different to the screenshots.
However, we do like what we see so far. While the changes aren’t exactly groundbreaking or considered “game changing,” we appreciate the little quality of life updates here. Hopefully Google won’t make us wait too long before we see it released to the general public. If you’re someone that already relies heavily on Google Wallet, then this is an update you’ll want to keep an eye out for.
