The Galaxy S26 and S26+ will feature the Exynos 2600 2nm chip in some regions. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is likely to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 globally. As for the Galaxy S27 series, Samsung would ideally want all models to ship with the Exynos 2700. This is considering how the chipset is expected to bring performance and thermal gains. The move would also help it minimize its chipset expenditure. But it appears that the brand will wait longer before a fully-Exynos Galaxy S lineup. A new rumor claims that the Galaxy S27 will also get a custom-tuned Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip based on Samsung’s 2nm GAA process.
Galaxy S27 may feature a custom 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro
Leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo claims that Samsung’s next-generation flagships (presumably the Galaxy S27) will use a custom-tuned Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip based on Samsung’s 2nm GAA process. This aligns with recent reports that said Samsung’s prospects of securing chipset orders with Qualcomm are increasing.
Given how the company’s 2nm GAA process reportedly reached 50% yield milestone, and it’s aggressively pushing its second-generation 2nm iteration, SF2P, there’s a possibility of the leak becoming a reality. Meanwhile, TSMC’s 2nm capacity is nearing a bottleneck. Several clients are already reportedly looking at Samsung as a reliable foundry alternative. Qualcomm seems to be one of them.

This could threaten Exynos adoption
The custom version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro could feature slightly increased CPU and GPU clock speeds. Currently, it’s not clear if there are any additional upgrades. While this can be good news for Samsung’s foundry division, as it wants to accumulate as many chip orders as possible to hit back at TSMC and turn profits eventually, there are certain other things at play here.
The Exynos division made a comeback of sorts with the Exynos 2600. So, a partnership with Qualcomm may threaten the adoption of Samsung’s chipsets in the Galaxy S27 series. One analyst notes that Samsung wouldn’t invest millions in CPU/GPU development, including hiring ex-AMD VP John Rayfield, just for a small Exynos role. Having said this, we suggest you treat this leak with a pinch of salt for the moment.
