Google just announced a huge update to Gemini in Chrome on all of its platforms – macOS, Windows, and Chromebooks. And it’s a pretty big deal.
Gemini has lived in Chrome already, with the little Gemini button in the top right corner. Now, Chrome is getting a brand new side panel that will keep Gemini at your fingertips. So no matter what tab you’re in, you can have Gemini available to you to summarize reviews, dig through details, and much more.

Google is also bringing Nano Banana into Chrome
But that’s not all, Google is also bringing Nano Banana directly into Chrome. So you can transform images on the fly, without downloading anything or jumping into another tab.
Another big update for Gemini is going to be the Connected Apps integration, which is already available in Gemini, but now it’s coming to Gemini in Chrome. Essentially, Gemini can now tap into your Gmail, Calendar, YouTube, Maps, Google Shopping, and Google Flights to give you more accurate and personal details.
If you’re an AI Pro or AI Ultra subscriber in the US, you also get a new feature called Auto Browse, which will handle multi-step tasks for you. This includes vacation research, scheduling appointments, filling out forms, and even applying discount codes while you’re shopping. It’s also able to identify items in a photo and add them to your car while helping to keep you under budget.
Finally, Google is bringing Personal Intelligence to Chrome, which will allow Gemini to remember the context from past conversations in Chrome. This is coming in the “coming months,” however, and isn’t yet available today.
Google is making a serious play for the agentic web, and by building it into the world’s most popular web browser, Google can really take a big chunk out of that market.
