The Samsung Galaxy A17 was announced on August 6, 2025, and went on sale on August 18, 2025. It later launched in the US on January 7, 2026, for $199.
The Galaxy A17 is Samsung’s latest and cheapest Galaxy smartphone. It retails for $199, but we often times see it available for much cheaper. Carriers will most likely offer it for free with signup.
For its price, it does have some pretty decent specs. This 6.7-inch display does have some pretty sizeable bezels as well as a large chin and camera cutout. But it is a 6.7-inch FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It’s powered by the Exynos 1330 processor with 4GB, 6GB or 8GB of RAM. There is also storage options from 128GB to 256GB.

Samsung did equip this one with a triple camera setup on the back, but in all honesty, it’s a single camera. We’re looking at a 50-megapixel primary camera which is a 1/2.76″ sensor, along with a 5-megapixel ultrawide and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. There is also a pretty decent 13-megapixel selfie camera.
This whole phone is powered by a 5,000mAh capacity battery with 25W charging. Which is pretty standard for these sub-$200 phones.
The Galaxy A17 is likely going to be Samsung and Android’s best-selling phone for 2026. In 2025, the Galaxy A16 was the top-selling phone worldwide that was not an iPhone. The same goes for the Galaxy A15 in 2024. So we do expect that trend to continue this year with the Galaxy A17.
