Google took its sweet time in pushing out the January 2026 update to all compatible Pixel phones. However, despite that, it seems that things aren’t that smooth. Several Google Pixel owners in the past few days have reported issues with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, following the January update. It looks like there’s no workaround for this at the moment.
January 2026 Pixel update breaks Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for some users
The January 2026 update for Google Pixel devices reportedly rolled out last week despite being announced in the second week. Reports of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity issues started flooding Reddit and Google forums as it reached more widely. Pixel owners report that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth stopped working suddenly, and they won’t even turn on. They say that their Pixel devices are unable to even search for Wi-Fi networks.
The issue seems to be affecting all supported models, including Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and others. While the issue may not be affecting every Pixel owner, it doesn’t seem to be a limited issue either. This is because we’re seeing a considerable number of complaints from users over the past few days. Google has yet to acknowledge the issue.
There’s no workaround currently
Unfortunately, there’s no fix for this at the moment. Users note that performing steps like restarting, resetting the network, and booting into safe mode doesn’t fix the problem. While the issue persists even after a factory reset, reinstalling the latest public build reportedly solved the issue for a user. But this process requires some technical knowledge, as it’s not very straightforward.Â
For users with limited mobile data, this could be a severe issue, effectively leaving the device in near-airplane mode. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues were reportedly happening in isolated numbers in the previous Pixel update, but the issue now seems to be more widespread in the latest build.
Besides Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, there are some isolated reports of cameras not functioning properly. There are cases of the search function in the Settings menu being completely broken and the Network & Internet options not loading. Some even report excessive idle battery drain. Seeing the list of issues, consider yourself lucky if you still haven’t installed the January 2026 update.
