Peak Development has been given the go-ahead to develop a mixed-use project in Huntersville. The 21.3-acre site at 17220 Old Statesville Road will be named Station South.
Station South would include 278 apartments and 70 townhomes. Six of the townhomes would be in mixed-use buildings with commercial space.
Plans call for around 25,000 square feet of commercial space, including restaurants, retail and small office space.
The Charlotte Business Journal reports the development is near the proposed Red Line commuter rail. That project, part of Charlotte’s $25 billion plan for transit and roads, remains unfunded as North Carolina lawmakers weigh a measure that would allow a local tax referendum. The rail line would run from uptown to northern Mecklenburg County.
