AvalonBay Communities is looking to build a 30-acre residential development with more than 2,000 apartments next to Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington.
The development, ARTS (Avalon Redmond Tech Station), could have up to 2,500 apartment units on five separate parcels, according to the Puget Sound Business Journal. ARTS has already replaced part of the Virginia-based real estate firm’s 1980s-era Eaves complex with a 214-unit project, Avalon Redmond Campus.
Designed by Seattle-based CollinsWoerman, the project located at 156th Avenue NE and Northeast 40th Street would include apartment buildings up to 16 stories tall. The proposal comes on the heels of Microsoft’s ongoing efforts to update its headquarters. ARTS will be developed in five major phases and anchored by a 1.3-acre central open space.
