The Mayo Clinic developed a hotel last year to ensure family and friends could stay near where their loved ones were being cared for. Baptist Health plans to develop a 15-story hotel on Jacksonville’s Southbank.
Baptist Health aims for the building to include two hotels with 226 rooms within the Marriott family: one boutique hotel and one extended-stay hotel. The project is expected to cost $110 million.
One hotel will be an Element by Westin extended-stay hotel, offering space for families seeking longer stays. The other will be within the Tribute Portfolio — a collection of Marriott’s independent boutique hotels.
The building will also include a rooftop restaurant and outdoor terrace with views of the St. Johns River, open to all residents and visitors.
The Jacksonville Business Journal reports that, in September 2025, Baptist broke ground on its $190 million McGehee Family Tower, a four-story emergency tower planned to span 123,000 square feet.
