
In the grand scheme of things, the world owes England a thank you when it comes to the popularization of the small, two-door sports car. There are numerous models made in Britain that can take credit for turning the world on to the two-seater drop top, such as the Lotus Elan, the Jaguar XK120, and the MG MGB. Even the Mazda MX-5 Miata owes its existence to British sports cars. There are numerous others, as well, due to British Leyland’s massive production of roadsters throughout the 1960s and 1970s.
