The Mazda CX-90 PHEV managed to retain its Top Safety Pick+ award for 2025, despite a number of changes to the IIHS’ ratings system and award criteria, and the SUV is coming off of a solid sales year, with the nameplate (including both ICE and hybrid models) moving 54,676 units in 2024, compared to 30,821 in 2023. The SUV’s blend of power and practicality at a fair price makes it a very attractive purchase. It’s the kind of car Americans want to buy and Mazda is giving them just that.
