Bionova Scientific, a biotechnology technology company, plans to build a 70,000-square-foot facility in The Woodlands.
The planned facility at 2625 Research Forest Drive will include offices, laboratories, clean rooms and shell spaces for future build-outs.
The Houston Business Journal reports the Montgomery County commissioners approved a tax abatement program for the project in May 2024. From 2026 to 2029, 100% of Bionova’s county property taxes will be abated. After that, those taxes will be abated by 80% in 2030, 60% in 2031 and 40% in 2032.
Bionova said it will invest $100 million in the facility, with $56.1 million allotted for construction, which will start in May. Another $45.8 million would go into “fixed personal property,” or property that is attached in a way that makes it essential to the building’s use. The company says it will hire 57 employees.
