Crescent Communities purchased a 4.1-acre site in DeKalb County to build a six-story apartment community as part of Lulah Hills, a mixed-use development going up at the former North DeKalb Mall location just northeast of Decatur.
The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports the community, called NOVEL Lulah Hills, will feature 303 multifamily units offering studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans. The project is also expected to include more than 39,000 square feet of ground-level retail offerings.
Construction is slated to begin this month, with units anticipated for delivery in late 2027.
The mall officially shuttered in 2020, following years of financial decline even before the pandemic hit. Edens purchased the more than 70-acre site for $43 million in 2021 and began demolishing the existing property last year.
A total of 1,800 residential units are permitted for the site.
