Motorola is expanding its Android 16 footprint. The latest one to get the stable Android 16 upgrade is the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra. The update is rolling out in Brazil, with more regions possibly getting it pretty soon. This comes after the company beta-tested the latest version last month. As with every major OS upgrade, this one too brings security enhancements, new features, and possibly performance improvements.
Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is getting Android 16 update in Brazil
The Android 16 update for the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra brings the firmware version W1UV36H.61-15. It weighs about 1.64GB in size. The update is rolling out in stages, so it might take a few days to reach every Edge 50 Ultra unit in Brazil. You can manually check for the update from Settings > System updates > Check for updates.
The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra launched last year with Android 14 OS and received the Android 15 update a while ago. This is its second major update for the phone. It will be getting one more OS update, Android 17, and nothing after that. However, it will continue to get security updates until April 2028.

The update is rolling out in batches
Android 16 update for Motorola phones, in general, doesn’t bring major UI changes. There are subtle changes to the Settings app, a new Flash notification feature that flashes the camera or the screen when receiving calls and notifications. It introduces the Notification cooldown feature, which is useful if you receive multiple notifications from an app in quick succession.
The Android 16 update offers Advanced protection, a suite of security features to protect the device against vulnerabilities or threats. Motorola is also introducing custom modes with Android 16. This allows you to create profiles for different activities.
