Ward Real Estate and Development is hoping the City of Buckeye approves their zoning request for over 900 apartment units. The application requests the city rezone 64.5 acres of vacant land north of Interstate 10 and the Sundance area.
275 units will be detached cottages, while 170 units will be duplexes and 456 units will be garden style apartments. This new multifamily complex, called Coyote Crest, is planned for an area of the city that is sparsely developed, though new roadway projects are in the works there.
The Phoenix Business Journal reports much of the recent development activity in Buckeye has been happening off the I-10 at Verrado Way, where a shopping center hub is quickly taking shape with over 1 million square feet of retail space under construction.
Additionally, existing housing in Buckeye primarily consists of single-family homes. Howard Hughes Holdings is planning over 100,000 homes in the area.
